Last year’s student activities were so successful that this conference MIEA will have more workshops and entertainment for students. The University of Montana Indian students and programs will host many of the activities. “Nurturing American Indian Leadership Into The Future” is the theme.

**ESSAY**
“Nurturing American Indian Leadership Into The Future”

Five (5) students from grades 9-12 will be invited to give a presentation of 5-10 minutes during the conference on their perspective of the conference theme, “Nurturing American Indian Leadership Into The Future.”

A $100.00 scholarship will be awarded to each of the five (5) students selected.

Guidelines: Submit your presentation to MIEA postmarked by February 28, 2004. Presentations will be reviewed and selections made by March 15, 2004. Students must attend the conference and present their paper if selected.

Selection Criteria: Relevance to the conference theme, organization of paper, originality of ideas, citations (if appropriate), appropriate writing mechanics, overall message your presentation sends to conference participants. Please type your paper, size 12 font, 1” margins, Times New Roman font.
