Reznet News -- News and Views by Native American Students

Reznet is a project of the University of Montana School of Journalism to expand journalism opportunities for people of color.  The intent of reznetnews.org is to encourage more Native Americans to enter the field of journalism. The site is a place for Native students to gather on the internet to congregate and communicate on newsworthy issues.

 

Cradle board

This is a project of the Nihewan Foundation for American Indian education, which was founded by pop singer Buffy Sainte-Marie. It includes core curriculum based in Native American culture.

 

Oyate

The Oyate organization evaluates texts, resource materials, and fiction by and about Native peoples; conducts teacher workshops in which participants learn to evaluate children's material for anti-Indian biases; administrators a small resource center and library; and distributes books and material for children, young adults, and teachers, with an emphasis on writing and illustration by Native people.

Office of Public Instruction

The Indian Education Department at the Montana Office of Public Instruction contains many free downloadable resources, links to other sites, and news about Montana Indian Education.
 

Native American Rights Fund

The Native American Rights Fund (NARF) is a non-profit organization that provides legal representation and technical assistance to Indian tribes, organizations and individuals nationwide. Education is included in their advocacy work.

 

Alaskan Native Knowledge Network

A major project supported by the National Science Foundation and the Annenberg Rural Challenge to collect and disseminate indigenous curriculum.  Combines the Native way of knowing with scientific method.
 

Indian trust

This site gives the history and current happenings in the Cobell v. Norton lawsuit about the federal trust responsibility to Indian people.
 

National Tribal Justice Resource Center

National American Indian Judges Association, the National Indian Law Library and many tribes and Native Alaska villages, have contributed to these numerous tribal constitutional and code provisions relating to the establishment and operation of tribal justice  systems.  
 


Montana Higher Education

The Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education (OCHE) site contains links to all colleges, including tribal colleges, in the state of Montana.  Also includes links to financial aid resources.
