Heather Thompson
Special Recognition Award
Heather works tirelessly in the implementation of Indian Education. She continuously encourages teachers to include Indian education in their lessons and celebrates their implementation by taking pictures and posting them on the school website. When she acquires new knowledge, she immediately shares it with her school colleagues.
Heather supports the learning of her Indian students by: facilitating 4 after school cultural clubs, she teaches multiple beading groups, organizes and plays traditional games and is also learning to dance alongside her students. Most notably, her students can expect to be greeted by her every morning and her students’ families know they can seek her out. Heather’s students are drawn to her gentle and caring nature.
