MONTANA INDIAN EDUCATION ASSOCIATION
Dear MIEA Members and Friends:
The Board of Directors of the Montana Indian Education Association invites you to join them at the 33rd Annual Conference at the Holiday Inn Grand in Billings, Montana, to share successful educational strategies, discuss challenges, and to set new goals.
This year’s Conference theme “Leading the change in Indian Education: Our Culture and Traditions are our Strength” is dedicated to investigating issues and best practices as we share frustrations and innovative approaches to ensure that Indian students at all levels of the educational system receive a high quality education that prepares them for the future they envision.
The Conference will be organized into 5 strands: 1) Parent Strand, 2) K-12 Strand,
3) Higher Education Strand, 4) Urban Strand and 5) Legislative/Policy Strand. Members will have an opportunity to choose a strand to follow or to mix and match strands to best meet your needs. Meeting the educational and cultural needs of American Indian students attending schools in Montana is both overwhelming and exciting. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share innovative approaches to meeting Indian Education For All, school reform, common core standards implementation, dual enrollment for high school students, and changes in Higher Education and Public School funding.
We encourage you to register soon, make your hotel reservations, submit workshop applications, nominate individuals for awards, run for one of the open Board positions, or just come to the MIEA Conference and enjoy the workshops, speeches, and activities. We will see you in Billings.
